Falling Into Change: The Beauty of Letting Go
The Power of Change
Change is inevitable, yet it often feels overwhelming. But when we hold space for both love and release, we create room to grow. As life shifts and we’re faced with transitions, embracing change becomes a form of self-love. It allows us to release what no longer serves us and open ourselves to the beauty of new beginnings. And sometimes, it’s not just about accepting the changes, but about learning to trust the flow of life and find strength in letting go. When we let go, we make space for something more aligned with the person we are becoming.
The Journey of Letting Go
Letting go is a deeply emotional experience. Whether it’s releasing habits that no longer align with our values, relationships that have run their course, or even dreams we’ve outgrown, it’s often a journey of self-discovery. It can feel like untangling yourself from the past—a process that might be uncomfortable, but ultimately necessary for growth.
Throughout my life, I’ve always tried to hold space for things to begin and end, and in doing so, I’ve learned to honor myself in new ways. Holding space for the end of a chapter, whether it’s in a relationship or a phase of life, isn’t about loss—it’s about respecting the lessons and allowing room for something new to blossom. Each time I’ve honored an ending, I’ve also created a soft landing for my own heart, acknowledging that growth sometimes requires the courage to say goodbye.
This year has been a time of immense transformation for me. As Girl, Finally continues to grow, I’ve been reflecting on how much I’ve had to release in my own life—things I’ve held onto out of fear or familiarity. I’m stepping into a season of doing—finally releasing the things I’ve talked myself out of for too long. I’m learning to trust myself in this journey of expansion. I love this space we’ve created together, and I can feel how positively it’s shaping my life.
But the act of letting go has also meant confronting the parts of my life I wasn’t ready to heal from. As I’ve started being more honest with myself—about my past, my present, and the future I desire—I’ve found a deeper level of self-awareness and self-acceptance. It’s freeing to realize that while letting go may be hard, it’s also the key to living more authentically.
Holding Space for Love and Letting Go
One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned is that you can hold space for love, while also knowing when it’s time to release. Love doesn’t always mean holding on tightly—it can mean letting go with grace when something no longer nurtures your spirit. This applies to our relationships, yes, but also to the parts of ourselves that we’ve outgrown. Holding space for love allows us to embrace the beauty of what was, while giving ourselves permission to move forward with open hearts.
Social media, for example, has been a tricky space for me. I’ve found myself stuck between being present and feeling the need to pull back. Sometimes it feels overstimulating, and I’ve realized that it’s okay to release the pressure to be constantly “on.” There’s a beauty in stepping back with intention and returning when it feels aligned. It’s another way of holding space for myself—to love where I am in the moment, and to release the expectations that no longer fit.
Practical Steps to Embrace Change
Reflect on What Needs to Be Released
Take some quiet time to sit with yourself and reflect on areas of your life that may feel heavy or stagnant. Ask yourself: What am I holding onto out of fear or familiarity? This could be a relationship, an old habit, or even a mindset that no longer supports your growth. Trust that the answers will come when you allow yourself to truly listen.Create a Routine of Letting Go
Release doesn’t always happen in one moment; it’s often a process. Consider creating a small ritual to signify your readiness to let go. This could be journaling your feelings and then burning or tearing the pages, physically decluttering a space that feels weighed down, or even practicing a short meditation where you visualize yourself gently releasing what no longer serves you.Set Intentions for New Beginnings
After you release, take time to focus on what you want to invite into your life. Set clear, heartfelt intentions about the direction you want to move toward. What does your life look like when it’s aligned with your values and desires? Write these intentions down as a reminder of what you’re making space for.Practice Self-Compassion
Change can stir up a lot of emotions, and it’s important to be gentle with yourself during this process. Embrace your feelings without judgment and remind yourself that healing takes time. Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting—it means honoring the past and giving yourself permission to move forward with love and grace.Find a Support System
Don’t be afraid to lean on the people in your life who uplift you. This looks difference for everyone. Sometimes your family doesn’t have the range to support you. If your family is not privy to healthy communication and understanding then your support may come from external people - friends, peers, professors, etc. Share your journey of change with those who truly see and support you. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or even a community like Girl, Finally, knowing that you have support can make the transition feel lighter and less lonely.
Your Journey Awaits
As we move through the season of fall, nature is showing us the beauty of release. The leaves let go, trusting that in the stillness of winter, new life will emerge. We, too, have the strength to let go—knowing that we are creating space for something new, something better aligned with who we are becoming.
So, as you reflect on your own life, ask yourself: What are you ready to release? What are you ready to welcome in? Embrace the journey with an open heart, and trust that every ending is the beginning of something beautiful.
Your journey awaits—full of change, growth, and the most authentic version of you.
